» Detention Centers in Japan
Posted on behalf of Debito. Hello all. I have just webbed the following (yesterday's "Report on Filing Complaints to J Police" with dozens of new links and a backlog of related materials) on the Community Issues page. Arudou Debito Sapporo ////////////////////////////////////////// At the above link, it reads: TREATMENT IN DETENTION CENTERS "Here is an account of what can go on in detention centers when one is called in for questioning by the Japanese police. » What is it... that is so terrifying about life?
the world may not be as it seems....Living it,most don't think they can make it,but then again life is a learning process that continues whether one wants it to or notThere are lots of scary things. Life is about risk and chance. There is no such thing as absolute security and safety. Exercise will help. The endorphins will flow, making you feel better. Plus, religion provides comfort and a sense of security for many people. Make sure you're getting adequate sleep and nutrition. And fresh air. If you are in the city, try to get out into the wilderness, if possible. Being away from everyone in the woods and away from machine noise will calm you down right quick. That's my general answer. My specific answer is: Get to kno...... - 2009-07-04

» Blue Book Market
Hi, I'm looking for information on Blue Books, i.e. used equipment pricing guides. Specifically: - who all makes blue books, e.g. Kelly Blue Book, Orion (a bit of history on each would be a plus) - what market segments they cover, e.g. automobiles, industrial equipment, etc. - where from they get their pricing data (detail here is good) - how many pricing entries are in each book - blue book products pricing structures, i.e. what exactly are they selling, e.g. $X for a CD-ROM, $3.99/net lookup, etc. - and finally, what is the total market for blue book information (any breakdown here would be good). Thank You....... - 2009-07-04

I'm thinking about buying the RAZR2 V9m for Cricket. One of these main reasons I want it is because it has a built-in MP3 player. But how many songs does it hold? And can you make one of your songs your ringtone? You cannot make one of your songs your ringtone. The phones itself can probably only hold 1 or 2 songs but in order to have a bunch of songs on your phone you need to buy a memory card designed to fit your phone. I'm guessing either a Micro SD Card or a Mini SD Card. Hope I helped!...... - 2009-07-04

Alright, so I really like this guy from another town. He's sweet and funny and adorable, and he's cool but a little bit nerdy too, kind of like me haha. When we are together, we talk and flirt, and if I try to make him jealous, it works. I texted him before, and we had long conversations, but I stopped texting him because I didn't want to annoy him. Now I want to text him again but I don't know what to say! I think he may like me. When we're together I catch him staring sometimes, and he does flirt with me. But I'm not too confident about him liking me, and it's just so complicated! I'm not comfortable saying I like him upfront. How do I deal?Alright, so I really like this guy from another town. » In a cage match who would win Muslims or Christains?
They would both toss their sacred texts down and yelled at the books to fight for them. Only to have the books refuse to fight. Muslims are taught to fight till the end for their God and their rights. Christians were taught to turn the other cheek when slapped on the one side of the cheek. Definitely, you obviously would know who will make the first strike and who will win. It is like a bully on the street who keeps kicking someone who is already lying down and would not want to fight. However, you should also see when the Christians fights back, the other guy would run and take an innocent one as a hostage he can kill if the other guy persists.if both agree to throw all of the scriptures in the ocean. the Bible would disappear, the Q...... - 2009-07-04

There is little to no evidence against the existence of ghosts. Alot of people believe that ghosts do not exist, simply because their existence has not been scientifically proven, and the idea sounds ludicrous to a scientific mind. There have been countless cases where evidence has been presented to prove the existence of ghosts, but has turned out to be a hoax. Alot of people will invent stories and contruct fake photographs in an attempt to become well known, and others just happen to experience a funny conicidence. Because of the sheer number of hoaxes and fake photographs, many people are disinclined to believe in ghosts, but there is no evidence yet to disprove their existence. Not at all. Whats a good brand? Why worry about brand ... just buy some thick wool socks. The secret is to make sure the shoes are still loose enough so the circulation doesn't get cut off. If there is rain or snow you will also need some type of waterproof covers though. In the latter case look for neoprene cycling booties that cover the shoe. They are used by cyclists with real bike shoes and have holes in the sole to allow the cleat to still engage the pedal. The advantage is they provide insulation and prevent feet getting wet from road muck. Or, if it's really cold wear some suitable winter boots ... but use platform pedals (vs 'clipless' pedals). » Just how much retooling would it take the Big 3 auto makers to build hybrid, electric, or fuel efficient cars?
It seems to me that many of the same parts and systems that go into the current line of American gas-only and less efficient cars, would go into newer hybrids, more efficient, or even all electric cars. But I don't work in a car factory. So I'm just curious. Do the Big 3 auto makers really have to retool from the ground up to evolve and adapt to today's current market and consumer need for fuel-efficient or alternate energy vehicles? About what percentage of their factories need to be overhauled and retooled to get to where they need to be and become competitive again? What's that going to cost and how long will it take?None to produce fuel efficient cars. Most of the car manufacture's now produce cars in Europ...... - 2009-07-04
» I have a saltwater substrate question?
what is better sand or crushed coral and what are the pros and cons of eachAs you noted, each has pros and cons, so it really comes down to personal preference. Most people go with sand-- either oolitic, dolomite, or coral-- simply because it looks better suited to a marine tank. However, these also provide you with many of the benefits of coarser coral gravel. Nearly all marine substrates will slowly (VERY slowly) dissolve, releasing hardening constituents (calcium/magnesium carbonate/bicarbonate), which helps to stabilize the pH. With sand, the finer particles allow anaerobic areas to develop, which can be good or bad. These anaerobic patches can be home to denitrifying bacteria that convert nitrate (from fish waste) to harmless nitr...... - 2009-07-04

» Does anyone know how to build/make wooden soap dishes?
It seem to be pretty simple but I need to know the type of wood, nails (ie...liquid or metal).there are lots of wood soap dishes - my husband makes them out of pine and cuts grooves in them to allow the water to drain away from the soap. check them out at : http://www.wyomingdesignworks.com/soap/g... no glue, nails or metal needed Not a good idea unless basically a grill - water from the wet soap will conquer almost all finishes unless the wood looks almost plastic from the epoxy type finish. ...... - 2009-07-04

» Channel anticipatory anxiety into constructive preparedness
As TS Ernesto approaches the Gulf coast on the one year anniversary of Katrina, our normal anniversary grief at times may switch to overwhelming anticipatory anxiety. The very real tragedy from last year greatly magnifies our interpretation for potential catastrophe this year. Now is the time to reach out to family, friends and neighbors. The next few days also offer an opportunity for unique form of healing. As we reflect back on what we wish we had done, we can now do with a deliberate purpose. We are also approaching the 5 year anniversary of the September 11 attacks followed by the anthrax attacks. CNN has plans to re-broadcast in real time the entire day of September 11, 2001. » How much should I be paying for stock twin turbos from a 300ZX?
TB22/TB02 Twin turbos? How much should I be paying for them in good condition with no shaft play?Very cheap. It depends on the seller too. You could probably get them for $40 on Zilvia.net. Check the forums and stuff. At most you should be paying $100, and that's a little bit overpriced for just the turbos. Anything above $100 is ridiculous. *Reply to John Paul's Post* : Yes, beware, unless you are buying it from someone who took out their turbos to upgrade them. You don't need a turbo timer to cool down your turbos either, so assuming that all people without turbo timers maintain their turbos horribly is a fallacy. Buy them from Zilvia, make sure he has a good reputation.Buyer beware. Unless you know how old the...... - 2009-07-04

I'm looking for a negative scanner that can scan at a high resolution to be able to print large formats posters/photos. Also a printer that can print these posters/photos. Anyone able to point me in some direction? The highest dynamic range available on the scanners in my B&H catalog seems to be 4.8. The resolutions very, but that doesn't make much of a difference when scanning 35mm. There is only so much detail you can pull out of a small negative. As if it's a surprise I'm going to recommend the Minolta Scan Dual IV. I have the III. For less than $300 it's got a 4.8 dynamic range and 3200 dpi. No scanner in it's class can touch it.Thanks! i just got a ball python and for its top of the cage i got clamps but the screen top is just a little big for it and only 2 clips fit im wondering what i can use to keep it from excaping and yes i got the best screen top that would fit it i checked 3 different places. If the screen top you have is not too huge, you can try lining the inside rim of the screen top all the way around with some decent weather striping that has a peel back and stick application. You may need to do a little trimming before your top fits snug. Then use your clips. You can also experiment with some good bungee cords or short type towing straps.put a 1'x6' board across the top with a weight or have one custom built for your cage.put really heavy rocks or s...... - 2009-07-04

i am not talking about the firebolt later on, but the one in the sorcerors stone. i dont remember who did and i was watching the movie and they didnt say and i cant remember IF they even tell you who did...thanks so much :)Well McGonagall and Dumbledore probably arranged the brrom and they bought it with the school's money. I think McGonagall actually went and bought it. I think this because when the broom goes to Harry, it has a note from McGonagall. :)mcgonigal and dumbledor of courseThe teacher Ms. McGonagalli haven't read the books, but if you are paying attention in the movie, you can see the implication that McGonagall bought the nimbus 2000. the movie doesn't spell it out for you, but it's suggested by the way s...... - 2009-07-04

» Geographical bias of alcoholis
Does there exist a geographical bias in alcoholism? In societies in which people do not drink alcohol - or only brew beer for certain occasions - alcoholism does not occur. But the susceptibility to alcoholism seems to be just as prevalent among such societies when they can get alcohol regularly, among the Australian Aborigines, for example, maybe among the American Indians. In deed, it seems to be more prevalent, but this may result from the lack of social conventions about drinking, that is to say (my assumption), there would be just as much alcoholism in "western" societies if we didn't observe our conventions. The people who are against drinking also like this idea, claiming that we are all potential alcoholics. In the states in...... - 2009-07-04

Lets say you wipe your toddlers hands and your hands at least 20 times day maybe even more. Can that dry out your hands and maybe even your cheeks? (I'm not doing this someone i know is)If it is with only water it will definitely dry out their hands. Water will evaporate and suck the moisture out of the cells of the hands. I would recommend not washing hands that frequently [since the child will have very little exposure to germs, and result in being ill a lot of the time] or using lotion after every wash.Of course it can. baby wipes contain alcohol.Yes it does, not only does it contain alcohol that is primarily used for the killing of harmful bacteria and germs, but depending on the brand that is being used, especially on newborns, ad...... - 2009-07-04

I have a question about something I read in the economy section of yesterday's NYT: "At a meeting in Paris on Monday, the finance ministers of Germany and France complained that Europe had unjustly borne the brunt of the dollar's decline. . ." Er, what do you suppose they meant by that? (I don't dispute it; I just don't know what they're talking about). Are they talking about the reduction in European exports to America, because the dollar is so low compared to the Euro that their economies have suffered? It doesn't sound like it. At the moment I'm 27 weeks preg and have been thinking about labor. I've heard a few stories about where lucky to have had theirs to break in the hospital or at home. FYI: I'm not saying ALL children suffer in the foster system either, there are good ones and those folks are saints, but there are lots of bad ones out there. » controlling a movie loaded with loadMovie()
Hey, guys! Stumped again. I am trying to load an external .swf file into a clip instance, so that I can move/resize/etc. with AS. First, I make a new movie symbol called "logo" in my main timeline. Then, I use: logo.loadMovie("myfile.swf"); That doesn't seem to work. I guess my REAL question is: how do you load an external .swf so that you can tweak it with AS? THANKS!!!!!!! Shannonthe syntax is loadMovie(url, target, method); the method is post or get, but you can leave it out and simply put loadMovie("myExternalSwf.swf", _root.myMovieClip);or when you build the external .swf tell your actions to look at _level0 then it won't jack with you _root...... - 2009-07-04

If you are becoming a social worker, what are the personal beliefs (values, biases) that you think may have a negative impact on your work?Thinking you can actually make a difference.if you can't seperate your personal beliefs from your work in an occupation like that then you have no business going into the field whatsoever. this job, like a management position in any industry, requires that you leave all personal beliefs, opinons, biases and personal relationships with those that work for you, or are served by you, at the door when you walk in each day.everyone has their own prejudices, stereotypes, values and biases. no matter how much we try to deal with them and avoid them, we will ALWAYS have our own judgment about certain thi...... - 2009-07-04

the world may not be as it seems....Living it,most don't think they can make it,but then again life is a learning process that continues whether one wants it to or notThere are lots of scary things.

» I used to have to have 2 gold fish but one dissapeared what happend?
is it possible that one gold fish ate the otherit depends what the size difference was, if the one that is missing was small enough to fit in the others mouth then it is likely that it was eaten. fish will eat dead tankmates but there is usually some evidence left. and its unlikely that the goldfish could eat all the remains of the other fish. this happens a lot at work and i usually have to fish out at least the skeleton. im guessing you have but before you think about anything else, look everywhere the fish could possibly have gone. on the floor, down the back of the tank, in any ornaments, in the filter (if it could fit) good luck finding your fish.fish are like socks in the laundry. they seem to go missing all the time, and th...... - 2009-07-04

You can read more about this issue in our bug tracker at http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/bugs35.php?do=view&bugid=2542. I'm afraid that mine will break at work (in the classroom) or while I'm out in the store! If you have your break in public share your story. For all three of mine, it broke in the hospital. I was always worried it would while I was out running errands and feel like a fool but it never did. Mine did leak once but it wasn't anything major and it just dribbled a bit, like a heavy discharge. I wouldn't worry too much, even with all the stories out there, I have found that only about 1 in 10 actually have that huge water break when they are out. With ...... - 2009-07-04
» How do I get my 2 year old to take her medicine?
She has a ear infection, respiratory congestion and a stuffy nose. Her doctor prescribed her THREE medicines. It would have been okay if I gave her one medicine, not a lot of fuss and it over rather painlessly. But now I have to give her 3 meds at the same time (twice a day for 5-7 days). Should I change up the times I give her the medicine, that way it like I'm giving her one dose? But with my hectic working hours I really have to narrow it down to all doses at one time... I've even tried blowing softly in her face as she takes it- she immediately raspberries it right in my face. And suggestions please??If its chewable, mix it in with some applesauce and add some sugar to cover up the tartness of the medicine. You could als...... - 2009-07-04
» Why are some gay people against gay marriage but in favor of gay civil unions with all benefits?
of married straight peopleI can't imagine why anyone who is gay would be against equal marriage rights. Other than masochism or major self-esteem issues, I guess.Well that's ridiculous when there are so many children out there waiting to be adopted and suffering in the foster system when they could be adopted into happy loving FAMILIES be them same sex or not. It's about equal rights for ALL PEOPLE. Civil unions aren't good enough. FYI: I'm not saying ALL children suffer in the foster system either, there are good ones and those folks are saints, but there are lots of bad ones out there. EDIT: I don't want a big church wedding or anything to do with a religious ceremony, but when I do get married t...... - 2009-07-04
» Negative personal beliefs for a social worker?
